Danielle J. Tillman, AIA, NOMA, is the Founder and Principal of d. idea lab, an architecture and strategic advisory practice based in Chicago.
Over nearly two decades, Danielle has led the planning, design and delivery of more than $2 billion in construction, including more than 7,000 housing units, and a diverse portfolio of civic, educational, institutional and mixed-use developments. Prior to establishing d. idea lab, her work included Chicago's Wolf Point, Lathrop, The Millie Residences and citizenM Hotel, GEMS World Academy, numerous Chicago Public Schools capital projects and the renovation and expansion of the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Public Library.
Danielle has been recognized with the AIA Young Architect Award, the AIA Illinois Alan Madison Service Award, the Chicago Women in Architecture Breaking Glass Award, and Crain's Chicago Business 40 Under 40. A licensed architect in Illinois, she serves as a Commissioner on the Chicago Plan Commission, is a Past President of the AIA Chicago Foundation and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture. Danielle earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Spelman College and a Master of Architecture, with a certificate in Real Estate Development, from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the International Women's Forum and the Economics Club of Chicago.
