One of the newest buildings in the Near South Side, Columbia College’s Student Center is a literal gem.

This Gold LEED certified building includes myriad sustainable features throughout. The building uses recyclable materials, glass that protects against birds flying into the building, noise-cancelling walls for music practitioners and low-carbon concrete.

Columbia College Student Center, at the corner of 8th Street and Wabash Ave

One of the newest buildings in the Near South Side, Columbia College’s Student Center is a literal gem – at night its translucent façade sparkles with light onto Wabash Avenue. Inside, it is a breathtaking experience for Columbia College students, functioning as both the traditional student union, a place to meet and eat and a highly creative space for music, art and design.

As a school that prides itself on its arts education, this Gensler-designed student center is the perfect fit for Columbia College.
