Queen Anne Style Architecture is a style of building which originated in England, becoming popular in the United States during the late 19th century. Queen Anne style is part of the broader Victorian architectural movement and is characterized by its eclectic and ornate design features. Some defining elements include:
- Asymmetrical facades
- Variety of materials and colors
- Decorative trim
- Bay windows
- Wraparound porches
- Gabled roofs
- Stained glass or leaded glass
- Decorative masonry
This style is named somewhat misleadingly after Queen Anne of England (reigned 1702-1714), although it has little to do with her reign.
