The Legacy of Wrigley Field: Lunch and Learn
This new exhibition traces Wrigley Field’s journey from its 1914 origins as Weeghman Park to its current status as a National Historic Landmark, highlighting key renovations and its role in Chicago’s sports and cultural history.
Kick off baseball season with a noontime lunch-and-learn talk from Gunny Harboe, whose firm oversaw the restoration of the historic stadium, and Grace Rappe, who led the design team responsible for the 1060 Project, which expanded amenities for the Cubs ball club and improved the fan and pedestrian experience surrounding the complex.
Note: This program will take place in our first-floor Chicago Gallery, near The Legacy of Wrigley Field exhibition. Guests are invited to spend a few minutes exploring the exhibit before the start of this informal talk.

Speakers:
Gunny Harboe is a registered architect with over 35 years of experience and has his own small firm with a national practice based in Chicago. His award-winning work has included many iconic modern masterpieces by Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright. He received his M. Arch. from M.I.T., (including study in Copenhagen, Denmark); a M.Sc. in Historic Preservation from Columbia University; an A.B. in History from Brown University, and he attended the ICCROM ARC course in Rome, Italy. Gunny was a founding member of the ICOMOS ISC20C and was a founding member of Docomomo_US. He is also a board member of the FLW Building Conservancy and an Adjunct Professor at IIT.
Grace Rappe is managing principal for the Chicago architecture studio HDR. Her portfolio includes architecture and landscape architecture projects in retail, mixed-use, education and civic in both the private and public sector, many of which are located in Chicago and the surrounding area. She has a particular interest in how public-private partnership and interdisciplinary collaboration can help create meaningful spaces and experiences that often defy traditional building or landscape typologies. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Architecture from Pennsylvania State University, which included study in Darmstadt, Germany. A long-time Chicago resident, Grace is active with both the local industry and the greater community. She currently serves on the boards for the Magnificent Mile Association, Chicago Gateway Green Association, and the Chicago Women in Architecture Foundation, and is adjunct faculty at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, where she leads a studio specific to Health Care Architecture.
