Ann Thompson

Board of Trustees, Past Chair; Governance Committee Chair

Ann Thompson, AIA, is the Executive Vice President of Architecture and Design at Related Midwest, where she leads the design and planning for mixed-use, mixed-income, affordable, and luxury developments as well as all engineering, zoning and entitlement efforts.

With 25 years at the company, she has overseen the design of over 2,700 residences, with another 1,500 in progress. Ann manages architecture, urban planning, interior design, and engineering firms to execute Related Midwest’s visionary projects in Chicago, including the reimagined Lathrop community, One Bennett Park, the first Robert A.M. Stern-designed residential tower in Chicago; and The 78, a massive downtown development.

Ann's leadership has earned Related Midwest recognition from the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, and Landmarks Illinois. Her work has been acknowledged in Forbes, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, and she was named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2020 Notable Women in Construction and Design.

A licensed architect in Illinois, Ann serves on the boards of the Chicago Architecture Center, Lycèe Français de Chicago, and the University of Illinois School of Architecture Alumni. She holds a Master of Architecture with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a member of the AIA, International Women’s Forum, and The Chicago Network.
