Kenilworth-South: Wright, Maher & Burnham

The North Shore’s youngest and smallest lakefront community still reflects founder Joseph Sears’ 1880s vision of a planned English village.

This South Route tour highlights the architecture of George W. Maher, a lifelong Kenilworth resident, and includes designs by Franklin Burnham, Frank Lloyd Wright and Watson and Daniel Burnham.

Explore the historic homes of this scenic suburb, focusing on the early residences of the Village’s south side. Along just a few streets, you’ll see a variety of architectural styles, from Queen Anne and Shingle to Prairie School, Richardsonian Romanesque, Victorian, and Dutch Colonial Revival.
