Given limited resources and shifting urban demographics, policymakers are asking how school buildings can best be designed to foster personalized, intellectuallychallenging interactions among teachers and students that equip young people to be 21st century citizens.
In November 2014, the Chicago Architecture Foundation and the American Architectural Foundation hosted a daylong forum at the request of Chicago Public Schools to develop a set of design principles to inform Chicago’s future schools.
