Engineering Fest is the CAC’s premier family event, where young people are invited to imagine and design the worlds they want, need and deserve.

The theme this year is Sustainable Engineering! How is Chicago’s unique architecture responding to evolving climate needs? What can we learn from past engineering innovations? How can we design a more sustainable future for all? Explore the activity stations and find out!

Bit Space is Chicago's youth-only maker lab. We specialize in bringing kids' ideas to life through our summer camps, field trips and after school programs. From woodworking and toymaking to game design and robotics, we are here to prove that no project is too big or too small when you have the right tools and creativity to work with!

From Bit Space:

  • Join us for our Spring Break Camps, starting March 24th.
  • Summer Camp enrollment is also open and runs weekly from June 9th through August 22nd.

The Chicago Council on Science and Technology believes science is for everyone and we create free science events and programs for people in the Chicagoland area. We do everything from hands-on activities at festivals to scientist talks and panels in the community.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is a body of government that works for the 7 counties, 284 municipalities (cities, towns, and villages), and 8.6 million people of the region of northeastern Illinois. Chicago (where you are now!) is the largest city in this region.

State law gives CMAP the responsibility to address challenges in northeastern Illinois around how land is used and how people and things move around the region. CMAP does this by planning with leaders across region to help create places that support a good quality of life for those who live, work, and play here. CMAP is also the region’s metropolitan planning organization (MPO), which means that CMAP is responsible for managing how money used for transportation projects is spent across the region.

CMAP has a summer leadership program for high school students interested in urban planning and related fields. The program runs for one week (Monday through Friday) in the summer; incoming freshmen through recently graduated seniors are eligible. Stay tuned for 2025 dates: Explore urban planning: Summer program for high school students - Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.
